Why fast websites win more customers

A slow site does not announce itself. It just quietly loses you enquiries, one impatient visitor at a time. Here is what speed is really worth, and how we build sites that feel instant.

Most people will forgive a lot about a website. What they will not forgive is waiting. If a page takes more than a couple of seconds to show up, a good chunk of visitors are already gone, back to the search results and on to your competitor.

Speed is money

The link between speed and revenue is not a hunch. It is one of the most measured things on the web. When a page loads faster, more people stay, more people read, and more people get in touch. When it loads slower, the opposite happens, and it happens fast.

For a business that relies on enquiries, that gap is the difference between a phone that rings and one that does not.

What slow actually costs

Imagine a hundred people click through to your site from Google in a day. If a slow load sends even a fifth of them straight back, that is twenty potential customers you paid to attract and then lost on the doorstep.

Now run that over a month, then a year. Slow sites do not cost you a dramatic one-off. They cost you a steady, invisible leak that never shows up on an invoice.

You do not notice the customers a slow site loses. They were never a phone call. They were a back button.

How we build fast sites

Speed is not a setting you flick on at the end. It comes from the way a site is built in the first place. Here is what we do as standard.

  • Modern foundations. We build on Astro and Next, which ship far less code to the browser than a typical page builder.
  • Images done properly. Every image is sized, compressed and served in a modern format, so it never holds up the page.
  • Hosted at the edge. Pages are served from Cloudflare's network, close to your visitors, so the first byte arrives quickly.
  • Nothing spare. No bloated plugins, no tracking pile-up, no fonts that block the first paint.

The result is a site that feels instant, on a cheap phone and a patchy signal, not just on your laptop on the office wifi.

What to check on yours

You do not need to be technical to get a sense of this. Open your site on your phone, off wifi, and count. If you are waiting, your customers are waiting too.

For a proper read, run your homepage through Google's PageSpeed Insights. It is free, and it gives you the same scores we work to. If the numbers are in the red, that is money on the table.
